Log School

One day while serving at the Pendleton Home and Log School, I went upstairs. We do not take guests there, but it was still furnished like a bedroom, and there was this great quilt on the bed.  A great log cabin.

Brigham Young Home

Nice colors on this one.
I love this little Tree of Life block. I had S/King hold out her finger, so you could see how small the half-square triangles are.
I love the hand-quilting on this simple nine-patch. There are double rows of stitching all across the quilt.
And tucked below the bed is a house quilt. These are not necessarily from Nauvoo times, but they are old quilts.

John Taylor came third you know...

Serving in the John Taylor home this week, I found a treasure. Here is a close-up......and then an overall view. Isn't this called ocean waves or something like that? Let's make one of these.
And the tulips across the street were beautiful.

Quilts to Remember

While we are being missionaries here in Nauvoo, I think I will take pictures of some of my favorite quilts in the homes, and post them here. Don't you think that is a great project? Since I don't have time to make any right now. This little baby quilt in a cradle is hand stitched in a ribbon pattern. Both of these quilts are found in the Jonathon Browning Gun Shop and Home.

This is a simple four-patch, but the quilting is great. I want to make one of these.
Before we left to come here, I cleaned out some batting and scraps in my sewing room, and thought I might as well make a rag quilt to use some of them. Braden and Rhya really helped me. They sandwiched the layers and Caleb was at the sewing machine doing a great job. They are proud of the finished product. Braden even hinted that his little brother just might need this quilt!
