 I have been wanting to clean out some of my UFOs (Unfinished Objects in quilting), and Isaac came up with the idea of an Eagle Scout project to donate quilts to the Children's hospital.  So, a perfect match:  tops donated!  And then Dawn will have to quilt them, and Isaac gets lots of work to organize them all, and get binders, etc.  So here are some of the tops that are out of my house now!  Yeah!!

Polar Express and Cupcake Flurry

I was asked to chair a committee to plan and execute the church Christmas party.  I must say, I asked some excellent people to be on the committees, and they came through royally!  The poster to advertise, the tickets to invite (and bring to be punched),

 and the decorating!  It was well done, with an engine in the front,

 and a caboose in the back from which we served the hot chocolate and marshmallows. 

 We served 300 people hash browns, french toast with many topping choices, and then dessert was a Cupcake Flurry! 

Aren't they pretty?  It was fabulous and everyone seemed to enjoy the meal, program, and all.  Yeah for plans that go well.

More Finishes!

Thanks to all the same people, here is the row quilt we started many years ago, DONE. 

 Three-year-old grandchildren get a twin quilt for their birthday to put on their big kid bed.  The next quilt they get will be when they get married, or reach 28, whichever comes first.

The Pumpkin Patch

This blog entry is dedicated to my friend, Karen, and her good husband.  She loves pumpkins!
I pieced and appliqued this top before I went to Nauvoo, and then left it with my quilter, Delene.  When I got home, surprise!  it was finished, so I just had to bind it.  Done. 

Sewing Room Plenty

 Here are just a  few pictures to show you some of the many supplies available to us in the Nauvoo sewing room.  Everything you can think to need is close at hand.  I just might miss this when I leave!

There are several racks of "pre-made" dresses in many sizes ready to be fitted to an individual.

This fabric is newly-purchased, ready to be washed and put on the shelves for site dresses. 

Cultural Hall Quilts

 On the second floor of the Cultural Hall is a display of antique and old quilts.  Here are pictures of my favorites.  This wild geese is very worn, but amazing.

 The Light and Shadow is made from tiny folded strips, so that the folded edge is loose.  Let's make some quilts from these ideas!

 This lovely grandmother's flower garden quilt is in the Lucy Mack Smith home.  Isn't it sweet? 

 And I think I have started a fad.  One day while in the Family Living Center, the director asked my opinion on how to use small scraps that couldn't be used for the rugs.  I told her about "Heartstrings" quilts, and now it is all the rage.  One sister even told me how to make them when I came

             in to work one day.  I just            smiled and nodded!

So yesterday, I decided to switch it up a bit, so I made these blocks with Sister Baker's sewing help.  I ended up using a different setting, but that will give them some new ideas.
